"About the gap between psychiatric care and primary care in my area."

About: Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

I, like many others in the Dover area, have been disappointed to find a reduction in the provision of psychiatric care for established patients. I was discharged into primary care recently. I was ok for a while, but now I am having medication issues. The last time I saw a psychiatrist I was told I could always ask if I was having problems. Well, I have asked, and I have been told to wait until a psychiatrist gives me an appointment. I used to see the psychiatrist once every three to six months, more frequently if I was distressed. Now the door seems to have closed, with just a little gap left to tell us to go away.
