"The vast majority of the staff ..."

About: Warwick Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The vast majority of the staff at Warwick were very friendly, helpful and respectful. Although waiting times are sometimes long for the endocrinology clinic, I don't mind because the reason is obvious - the consultant takes as much time as is needed to make sure we both understand my condition and its implications, are at ease with what we've been told and fully involved in all decisions.

What could be improved

In contrast to my experience at the endocrinology clinic, treatment at the obstetric clinic left a lot to be desired and I left feeling angry and hurt . My husband was made to stand throughout the consultation whilst 4 healthcare professionals sat in a row behind a desk and talked at me. The registrar clearly hadn't read my notes, my questions weren't answered and my husband was completely excluded, particularly when it came to listening to baby's heart beat - he was forced to stand outside the curtain whilst a student doctor was taught how to listen to the heart beat. In summary I found the staff to be rude and inconsiderate and I'm not looking forward to my next visit.

Anything else?

Generally I think Warwick is an excellent hospital with a caring and professional staff, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. However, a minority of individual staff members need to be reminded that patients are also customers and should be treated with respect.
