"Elbow fracture surgery"

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

I slipped and fell in January and fractured my distal radius in the joint. It was a complicated fracture requiring surgery and a plate and screws. I waited 6 days for surgery but this was partly due to the need for tests and scans to plan the complex reconstruction. I went in for day surgery but had to remain over night because they wanted to keep an eye on me. Day surgery ward staff were amazing - kind and caring. Anaesthetist was wonderful - I was terrified but he put me t ease and the surgeon was excited by the work he had done and was proud of the repair. All in all an excellent experience.

Thank you for providing feedback on your surgery at University Hospital, Coventry in January 2014 and your subsequent five star rating of the care you experienced following your elbow fracture. I am delighted to hear that you describe the staff you came into contact with on the Day Surgery Ward as amazing, kind and caring. Any surgery can be unnerving but it is lovely to hear that you were put at ease by the anaesthetist. The Trust is grateful for all feedback, positive or negative, as it means we can better understand what is important to our patients, and your kind comments will be shared with the relevant staff. Thank you for leaving your comments on NHS Choices. Communications Team University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust Telephone: 0800 028 4203
