I attended A&E after a fall to my back, I was triaged immediately and taken straight through for consultation and xray which showed a broken back burst fracture T12. Everyone was lovely explaining everything to me, what would happen next and quickly giving pain relief. I was admitted onto ward 6, feeling very apprehensive having never stayed in hospital before, and also being totally immoblised and flat on my back unable to do anything for myself. I was introduced to my care team immediately and reassured that help was at hand if I needed anything at all. Everyone was so kind, helpful and cheerful and nothing was too much trouble despite me needing up to 5 nurses for the most basic of tasks. I felt like I could have been a family member they were nursing which is how they treated all their patients. They were always there for you no matter what, even in the middle of the night when my metal brace would stop me from sleeping they would come for a chat and ask if they could get me a tea or coffee. I can't praise or thank everyone enough from A&E, radiology (4 MRI scans and CT scan), Ward 6 doctors and nurses, porters, cleaner, admin staff, physiotherapy, occupational therapy everyone who got me back onto my feet again, my care package was second to none, everyone gave over and above 100%, which is now being carried on by the district nurses, GP and my onward referral to Salford. I can also say with all honesty I enjoyed my meal menu the choice of food available, which was all was very good. Thank you again ward 6 for my excellent care and for being there for me through my ups and downs, you were fantastic!
