About: Royal Preston Hospital

I was seen in A&E during the early morning of 19/04/2014 for an ankle injury which proved to be fractured in definitely one place but maybe two. The triage sister was very fast, efficient & concerned about my injury. I've been to other hospitals where there may have been some umming and hashing about whether to xray or not - but in this case she was straight on the phone & a few seconds later my husband was allowed to accompany me around to the xray dept. As soon as the films were ready, the Dr called me in & even showed us on screen where the fractures were. A few minutes after that I was fitted with an orthopaedic boot, crutches and advice for crutches, fracture clinic appointment & pain control. What was brilliant was they did not assume the usual patriarchal position of telling me what to do etc. they asked politely about my capabilities & worked around me. They didn't assume I was dumb & knew nothing about pain control & within 1 hr 15 mins Inleft feeling well looked after, secure in the forward planning & in control (of mobility & pain relief). A sterling job, thank you so much to the Sister, staff nurse, Dr & nurse practitioner!
