"Patient Transport Service and Speed of Service"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

I have been referred for specialist spinal services at Royal Preston (following in-patient care at another hospital). Since breaking my back; I have had mobility problems and a reduction in financial resources. I was lucky enough to meet the criteria for free patient transport and have used the service twice so far. The service is run by volunteers who receive a fuel allowance. This does not retract from the service offered - which is excellent! Both sets of drivers were very friendly and professional. I arrived at my appointments in a stress-free way and with good time to spare. I would also recommend the hospital in terms of speed of service. This is a hospital that pro-actively tries to fill appointment spaces. I have received two appointments through cancellation - which mean that I have been seen very quickly. This has an affect on how soon you can return to normal functioning and reduces stress that patients often feel if they are left waiting. Well done so far - Royal Preston!

Thanks for your comments. Hearing about positive experiences really motivates our staff, and helps us identify where we’re getting things right so we can share good practice across all of our services.
