"My Father, aged 86 had a cataract ..."

About: King's Mill Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

My Father, aged 86 had a cataract operation on 16 December 2008 at the Greendale unit.I stayed with him. What a credit this unit is to the NHS. I have worked in the NHS for nearly 50 years (never at Kings Mill) and was very pleased to observe so much care and attention to detail and personal service. ?

What could be improved

My only complaint is that no out patient appointment was given and to date (22.12.08) I understand no clinic has been set up. I have telephoned to check in view of Christmas post and have been informed that they are awaiting the input from the Consultant and that the appointment will be after Christmas and could be the Saturday after Christmas as a clinic was held last Saturday. I hope that if this the case for Dad that a telephone call will be made as Christmas post cannot be relied upon.

Why could an appointment not be given on the day at the time of the conclusion of the operation?

Thank you for your comments which have been forwarded to the Greendale Unit management team. We are very pleased that your father had such a positive experience during his stay. With regards to your concerns about the post-operative appointment please call the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01623 672222 for any assistance.
