"Not a happy bunny"

About: Oaks Hospital

My husband had ent surgery here. We were very happy with the consultant and the operation was successful. The night staff were great too. However the following day the nursing care was non existent. My husband was left covered in blood with no assistance. He repeatedly asked if the bleeding was normal but no one was able to answer him. The consultant recommended that he used cotton wool to keep his ears dry. When he asked for some the sister said "we don't have any, the consultant usually supplies his own." She later went to find some. My husband was made to feel like he was being a nuisance and everything was too much trouble for them. There was only a hand towel in the shower and he daren't ask for a larger towel as he felt it would be too much trouble for them, so he left covered in blood. Oh and before he left he was told to use the ear drops in his eyes, come on he had ent surgery! He removed his own cannulae as well. I phoned after he left to complain. I was told that a manager would call me back. Needless to say they didn't and delegated the task to a poor staff nurse who said " I am calling as sister is in a meeting. " Clearly sister and matron couldn't be bothered either.
