"A & E receptionist very horrible"

About: Conquest Hospital

My daughter was refereed to this A & E to see a specialist doctor,we were told by the doctor referring her that we would not have to wait in the A & E just hand them my daughters paperwork and then we would be seen straight away, when i tried to explain this to the receptionist she was very rude and shouted at me,when i asked her to please not shout at me she then pulled the microphone right up to her lips and shouted loudly through it so that the whole waiting room could hear,i was extremely embarrassed by this and thought it was uncalled for as i never once raised my voice to her.I was already very anxious about my daughters condition so i was appalled at being treated this way by a member of staff that should surely be kind and compassionate towards patients and there family.I honestly hope that i never have to deal with this hospital ever again,i am disgusted at being treated this way.

We are deeply concerned to learn about your experience with reception staff at our A&E Department when you attended with your daughter. As a Trust we are committed to giving the highest quality of service to our patients, however, this is clearly not what you describe in your posting. Your comments have been forwarded to our General Manager for A&E and we would like to assure you that all comments are taken seriously and acted upon as part of our ongoing commitment to improving patient experience. The General Manager would welcome the opportunity to discuss what happened in more detail. If you would like to do this please make contact via our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) team who will make the necessary arrangements. PALS can be contacted by phone 01424 758090, by email PALSH@esht.nhs.uk , or in person by dropping in between 9am – 4pm (Mon-Fri) to the PALS office located in the main entrance opposite the Coffee Shop.
