"Time delay for cancer treatment"

My wife was diagnosed with rectal cancer in July 2012, and underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery during that year.

In mid Sept 2013 she had a routine appointment with Mr Velenini, the surgeon who had operated, and was sent for a CT scan at Kidderminster which took place in early Dec 2013. She had been given an appointment with Mr Velenini to review the scan 2 weeks later.

In the event this appointment was postponed until early Feb 2014. My wife thought that this postponement indicated that nothing serious had been shown by the scan. However, at the meeting with Mr Velenini he told us that the tumour had returned, and she was referred to Worcester for further treatment. After 2 more scans we now have an appointment to discuss treatment options, but I feel that the 20 week period between the early Dec scan and a meeting to discuss treatment is unreasonable. We cannot judge the medical results of this delay, but I do know that the emotional and psychological results have been considerable.
