"Our recent experience at Stafford Hospital"

About: Stafford Hospital

My wife was rushed into A&E recently following a visit to our local GP. Upon arrival we were immediately called through into the examination rooms and she was attended to by nurses, doctors and the consultant very quickly. I would estimate that in less than 90 minutes she had received all the standard emergency procedures including ECG, X-rays, and CT scan. The Consultant, Doctors and Nurses kept us both fully informed of what was happening through each of the stages of her diagnosis. She was found to be suffering with bi lateral pulmonary embolism. I can only describe the actions by the Staff in A&E as outstanding. She was admitted to the Acute Medical Unit and her transfer to there and handover was very professional. She was cared for in AMU by a very caring and competent team who started her treatment very speedily. The following day she was transferred onto Ward 12 where her treatment was continued again with total care and compassion shown by the staff. The ward was absolutely spotless and very spacious . She was discharged after a 3 day spell on Ward 12 and again this process was faultless with the discharge nurse fully informing us of what the treatment plan was for my wife and how the Community Nurses were going to handle her treatment over the next few days. Stafford Hospital as we all know have had some really bad press over the past few years I can only comment on our recent experience. If their were any lessons to be learnt they have certainly been taken on board from what we have seen over the past 4 days. Many Many Thanks to a very professional team who have put my wife well on the road to recovery Vic & Audrey Perrin

Dear Mr and Mrs Perrin

Thank you so much for providing us with this lovely feedback. I am delighted to hear that your experience was so positive as this must have been a very frightening time for you both.

I have shared your feedback with the teams who I know will really appreciate this.

Kind Regards

Angela Grocott
