"Is there nothing you can do with a rude consultant?"

About: Scarborough General Hospital

(as the patient),

My wife recently found a lump in her breast. Her GP referred her to the Scarborough General hospital urgently and we were seen in clinic C within a week. Finding a breast lump is a terrifying experience and it would have been a lot easier if the consultant we saw wasn't the rudest, most obnoxious man I've ever had the misfortune to meet.

After we left the consulting room with my wife in tears from the way he had spoken to her I went to see the hospitals PALS office to complain. I was simply told by a rather bland woman "Well that's just the way he is, we all know what he's like. What can we do about it?"

May i suggest that if the hospital know they have a consultant who has all the charisma of a death-row executioner, then they should tackle him on it and not let him bully the staff and management the way he does to his patients.
