"After care was appalling"

I had a laparocopy on the 4/4/14 and not aware fully of what well be happening depending on treatment. Before hand they said il be ok to go home by afternoon as I came to hospital at 7 am. Had surgery at 11:30 was complitly out till 3:30 was so sick n weak and drugged I barely could respond but felt the staffs wasn't helpful and I needed assisting to toilets yet no one appeared n I had to ask help as I became restless and increase of pain appeared.in that condition they told me they discharging me I couldn't even pass urine or stand I found mysrlf so hurt but one nurse was very very helpful and hold me and said not to worry? No one told me how long to keep dressing or no follow ups I still believe the surgeon should consult with us.i was not able to stand yet sent home a week gone iv had two lots of antibiotics as Iv had water infection. I jus feel hospital should look at each person individually and not as a numbered patient

I am very disappointed to hear about your experience with us. This is not the care we aim to provide. I can only apologise for the way you were treated. We will investigate our post-operative protocol to understand what we need to do better. Toby Lewis, Chief Executive
