"ENT Department"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

I visited the ENT department on Thursday, 10th April, having been referred by my GP as I had found a lump in my throat. I received the appointment very quickly and I was really impressed with the whole experience. When I first arrived the waiting room was quite full so I thought I was in for a long wait, but I was seen very near to my appointment time. The staff were very friendly and informative. I was taken down to have a scan and was seen almost immediately. The doctor carrying out the scan explained clearly what he had found and that he didn't consider it anything to worry about. To put my mind at rest, he carried out a biopsy and told me to return to the clinic an hour later when the results would be back. I spent an hour in the café (I have to say I found that a bit expensive) and then returned to the ENT department. I was seen very shortly afterwards and was reassured by the doctor that I had a multi-nodular thyroid that was not cancerous but that they would check it again in 4 months time. The staff were brilliant, the service excellent and I would thoroughly recommend this department based on the treatment I received on the day.
