We would like to apologise for what appears to be a system failure on this occasion when trying to arrange this test to be completed. The Children's Out Patient Department does perform a service for non-urgent requests by GP's. On this occasion attempts should have been made to ensure an early appointment date and time was available. The Senior Sister is going to speak to the member of staff involved and also ensure that all staff are fully aware of the responsibility to book bloods in a timely manner based on the clinical history each individual child. I am pleased to note that Ward A3 at Bassetlaw Hospital was able to undertake this request to provide reassurance to the family. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention to enable us to review our current system within the department.
