"Reassuring to know GP follows up"

About: Peterborough Maternity Unit Peterborough PCT

(as the patient),

I am pregnant and recently went for the 20 week scan. Everything was normal and we saw the heart beating and. However when I got home I noticed that my notes said there was no fetal heartbeat present! I realised the sonographer had just made an inputting mistake as everything had been fine at the scan. A week later my GP rang me to ask how I was. After a slightly confusing conversation I realised that my GP had received the 20 week scan results and it looked to him like my baby had died, so he was calling see if I needed any support. I told him that baby was mot definately alive and kicking so we agreed that we ought to let the hospital know so my notes could be corrected.

This isn't a complaint - in fact I wanted to say well done NHS for some joined up thinking. It was reassuring to know that my GP read my scan results and decided to initiate some follow up care - even though it wasn't needed in this instance!
