We arrived at A&E around 5pm on 1st April. I was unable to walk and in extreme pain after injuring my knee. My husband went for a wheelchair and we booked in. The reception staff were polite and helpful. We saw a triage nurse and were told we had a 2 hour wait ahead. my knee was swollen and incredibly painful. The Dr called us around 7.45pm and this is where it all went wrong. The Dr didn't listen to what I was saying. I had had surgery for an almost identical injury less than a fortnight earlier but he didn't listen and sent me for x-ray. Not surprisingly, the x-ray didn't show anything - its almost certainly a soft tissue injury. I thought he would refer me to orthopaedics (like before) but made me a physio appt instead. My GP had to refer me the following day but that means a 3 week wait to see someone in orthopedics. Meanwhile, I have extreme pain, cannot walk unaided and all because one person didn't listen. My grateful thanks to the nurse who gave me pain relief before I left.
