I had my tonsils removed in surgery in this hospital and i was sharing a ward with three other men. I was the last person on the ward to be taken to theatre so i watched the people go before me. When each of them came back the nurse looking after them was unbelievable! When they came around from their anesthetic they moaned in pain and she was mocking them like a child would. Mimicking their moans and telling them to shut up! One young man asked for a glass of water after having a tooth removed, she wouldn't get him one and carried on mocking him sarcastically. When i came back from theatre i was told to dress and leave, i could barely remain conscious. She came back several times telling me to arrange for a lift and to leave, however the letter i got said i would need several hours for the anesthetic to wear off. I couldn't ring my wife as i couldn't stay awake and the nurse was getting increasingly rude and aggressive. My wife turned up about 30 mins later and shes a nurse so she knew how to deal with it. She demanded to know what i had been given and the rude nurse on the ward had no idea. My wife blasted her, not only for being clueless but for not picking the phone up when she was repeatedly trying to ring to see how i was. My wife pointed out where my notes were, (at the end of my bed) and showed the rude nurse where it stated what medication i had been given. The rude nurse said she wanted me out of the bed so my wife had to try and dress me as a half conscious dead weight and then had to try and get me to the car. I could barely walk and the nurse stood laughing at us as we left. My wife was furious at the way i had been treated. Several days after the surgery i was re-admitted to stepping hill hospital as my throat wouldn't stop bleeding. This was one nurse who's behavior was unprofessional and childish, however i will not be using this hospital again and i do not recommend it to others.
