I have been involved with one department which shall remain nameless, not to protect them but simply because the fact that I have complained has made my treatment worse. This is the reason I am writing. I submitted an informal concern letter to the doctor about various issues of care. The department then saw fit to forwarded this letter to the entire department, all nurses included, and doctors not even involved in my care (about 10 people) and people I never even met. The result being I was treated appalling at my next appointment and my care has effectively ended. What I should have done is submit my concerns formally instead of trying to resolve the situation by speaking with the dr concerned. Since this I have contacted both the secretary of the dr over a simple matter of appointment communications, she forwarded this on to another department, only for me to receive an email back saying 'we wont contact you or speak to you'. When they say a complaint (and it wasn't even a formal complaint) wont affect your treatment or care, believe me, it most definitely will. I moved from another hospital because of mistreatment, disappointed the staff behave in the staff manner towards patients. To highlight the problem, this included intermittent vision loss which they can not explain, so it wasn't just a bit of pain or a minor scrap. Initially I had been happy with the first appointment, however, when things go wrong, all staff stick together, refuse to talk to you, and cover for each other, treating you very badly. Disappointed this hospital like all the rest. On my way up to the appointment a group of us were in the lift when all of a sudden a maternity nurse stopped the lift from outside, screamed at us in the lift 'get out ive got a baby'. Baby not poorly, she just threw us out and screamed at us. People in lift looked shocked, one man refused to get out, so nurse screamed at him gain. Poor man scared stiff. Also had scan. Given a buzzer but the cord had been wrapped round my neck, so everytime I went in the scanner the cord pulled tight round my neck so I couldn't breathe. I went in and out the scanner 10 times, and it choked me each time. When I asked him to unwrap it, he said 'I haven't strangled anyone yet' and walked off and did it again. Again I tried to be polite and resolve situation. It doesn't work, just file a complaint formally instead.
