My mother received excellent treatment during her stay at Mount Vernon following a knee replacement that was performed at Hillingdon Hospital. The transfer from one hospital to the other was not quite as satisfactory as her experience in July 2013 when both the op and the recovery were at Mount Vernon but the care taken by staff at Mount Vernon was excellent. One criticism is the parking situation. I visited my mother every day during her stay and the charges came to £21.60. Whilst the first 30 minutes are free, there is no option for a one hour fee after that - only for two hours or more. On one occasion I received a parking fine for being just 10 minutes late returning to my car. I was delayed by an incident on the ward and felt very peeved. Especially since the car park had any number of free spaces. In a hospital, where it is never certain how long a visit might be, a much fairer system would be a pay on exit barrier - very easy to install at Mount Vernon and already in existence at Hillingdon Hospital.
