"'Just forgotten about!'"

About: Lister Hospital

My mother was taken by ambulance to Lister on 30th December at 9pm having had a nasty fall. After 6 hours of waiting around, uncooperative porters, missing doctors, missing surgeons, missing nurses we got to the point we had to wheel her back and help her move and chase for pain relief, finally we got the results and she was admitted at just after 4am to a ward!. She required surgery to pin and plate it all back together, but within 3 days of being in hospital she contracted MRSA and got moved from the 11th floor to a room down a mans corridor ward 5A. On numerous occasions the buzzer fails to work, thus leaving her in pain or having accidents due to the time waiting for the toilet. She has now had issues with constipation for days, then a water infection started we believe this is due to having to hold on whist waiting for staff to return with a bed pan on numerous occasions, or leaving her for over 40 minutes on a bed pan, sickness closely followed and she has extremely swollen legs and pains, she has been forgotten about for her tablet, pain relief and tests being diabetic, she has been forgotten on numerous occasions during meal times which is not acceptable for a diabetic and even worse when she stated for over 3 days the cast was too tight, finally a doctor agreed it was removed and guess what another infection and blood blisters.... It was then stated she need close monitoring due to their concerns. The next day she was left for 6 hours with no one checking on her, monitoring her, the buzzer did not work again. Her legs were so swollen on Saturday we raised the issue and all we got was she needs to make sure her legs are raised...... Finally yesterday it was stated that it is a high risk of clots and a scan was book as an urgent matter for today, I have been told this morning that her scan has now been moved to 4pm today..... This is truly not an acceptable treatment of a patient and certainly below the standards you would expect of a hospital. We have lost faith and trust in Lister and more so the services that should we say are NOT being provided to my mother and we dread to think what impact this will have on her health which has got worse since her arrival into Lister Hospital. The above is about the 'care' being provided I have not even started on other matters regarding cleanliness, staff support and attitude. ......... The family are not at all happy and will be reporting these matters formally.

You're clearly very unhappy with the care your mother has received, and we'd like to investigate and do what we can to help. Please could you email us with your mother's details to generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net - once we know who she is we'll speak with senior colleagues and ask them to look into this worrying situation and start to get things sorted out.
