"missed cardiology appointments then a stroke"

About: Worthing Hospital

A relative has just had a stroke leaving him with speech difficulty and causing much stress. He has AF following cardiac valve surgery and has had at least 3 cardiology outpatients appointments cancelled and his Novel anticoagulant has not been adjusted until he was seen in the Stroke clinic following what has now become a near permanent speech defecit. Chronic mismanagement from Worthing Hospital has lead to what one can argue is probably an avoidable stroke, not what is expected in the modern NHS. Of course the mutual back slapping team that is the management of WSHT wont actually challenge any of this and absolutely nothing will change. The Trust can try and publicise what a great job they do but they dont deliver the proactive care when it is required.

We are very concerned to hear your feedback and are sorry to learn of the stress that your relative has experienced. We fully accept that you must be very unhappy with the events you describe and would like to assure you that we take this matter very seriously. The NHS Choices website is anonymous and your details are not shared with the Trust. We would very much like to conduct a full investigation and would appreciate it if you would call our customer relations department on 01903 205111.
