"Are my test results a state secret?!"

About: Circle-Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre

I would like to preface this review by saying I had no problems when visiting the centre for treatment, except that sometimes I had to wait longer than expected for my appointments. However, I am no longer a patient in the Nottingham area but, due to unsatisfactory care from my new GP (a separate issue) I approached a charity about my health problem, who very kindly referred me to a private specialist who will see me free of charge. The only thing he requested was that I bring details of my urodynamics test to the appointment, which I had done at the Treatment Centre in March 2013. My appointment is today and I have no test results. I have been passed from pillar to post by staff who have no intention of helping me obtain them. I was told initially that the results could only be sent out at the request of my GP or consultant, and was given a fax number to which to send the request. I went back to the charity, whose secretary very kindly made the request for me on behalf of the consultant I am seeing. She received no response. She has since spend at least a couple of hours on the phone speaking to different people, as have I and neither of us have had any luck in getting my results. One very rude lady said that she couldn't be expected to produce the results at short notice - is a week and a half short notice?! Someone else said the consultant actually had to give consent to release the results. Someone else said it was down to the urodynamics technician or nurse, who was at the City Hospital that day. I then spoke to someone who took the details then put me on hold so long that I was cut off. I rang back, spoke to someone else, who took the details, and my phone number and said she would ring back and I have yet to hear anything else. I should point out that I initially tried the GP practice where I was a patient in Nottingham - logic would suggest that test results would be sent back to your GP. But alas not. This is an absolute disgrace. I have never come across such rude and disinterested staff as those I have spoken to this last week. I always said my treatment in Nottingham was really good at the time, but this has just overshadowed the entire experience, and I certainly won't be saying that anymore. I only hope the consultant I see today is understanding about my inability to provide the test results he asked for.
