What I liked
Generally waiting time was short....
What could be improved
SIGNAGE:
Direction signs in the hospital are VERY poor indeed. If you start a journey back to the main entrance from Ward 12 there is an initial sign but after the lift journey they disapear. From short stay is the same. I found that the middle third of any journey has no continuity of signs they just stop.
SECURITY:
As an expert in security and as a qualified security profesional I was wandering around the hospital at 3:30am trying to find my way back to A&E from Short Stay, due to the lack of signs this took over 40 minutes and not once was I challenged OR asked if I needed help or was lost. Security as a concept in a public access building is difficult to imlement however there is virtually none at the QE.
Anything else?
My wife was in for a very serious condition that was new to both her and myself. A condition that now requires a complete change of lifestle and in the home dynamics. Not once has a Dr attempted to explain to me the "compas mentas" half of the partnership what it is, what we need to do, what we shouldnt be doing OR what medication my wife has and what its for or how it should be used if she cant manage?????????
