"Excellent treatment"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

Unfortunately my husband has needed hospital care and treatment several times in the last 4 weeks. Fortunately, he has had the very best of care and attention. I took him into A and E as he was unwell, he was seen to after a wait of only 10 minutes. Even though the department was busy, they realised he needed urgent attention. It was decided that he needed to be admitted and although he had to wait a few hours for a bed he was fed and well cared for in the meantime. He was on Ward 5 for the rest of the week and the care he received from the various doctors and nurses who attended to him was exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble and we were kept fully informed all along. He was discharged but has been back for follow up appointments twice so far and has a scan booked for this Friday and a follow up appointment to be arranged later for the results. I have been so impressed with everything about Wansbeck, the ethos of the hospital is wonderful and I have every confidence that my husband has had the best possible care and will continue to do so until fully recovered.

Dear Kirsten, I'm really sorry to hear about the tough time you've been having as a family - I imagine it must have been a very difficult last 4 weeks. I am so pleased that all the care your husband has received, and the way that this care has been delivered, has left you feeling confident that he's in the right place being looked after by people who want to do the very best they can for him at all times. It is very kind of you to find the time to share your story - I will make sure that A&E and the ward 5 have a chance to read it - it will mean a great deal to them to understand the impact they have had. Wishing your husband all the very best as he continues to get stronger and some warmth and resilience your way too, Annie Annie Laverty - Director of Patient Experience.
