About: Wansbeck Hospital

I left my last review in November after having my third baby at Wansbeck but I feel I really just skimmed over the surface of such over my births spanning 10 years and would like to give a more detailed review. The birthing suite is immaculate with good security. Private rooms with the most up to date equipment. As with most births there is an awful lot of waiting but you"ll never go hungry or thirsty as there is always someone popping in offering you a cup of tea or a biscuit until meal times. The midwives are lovely and welcoming and explain everything step by step, always asking your consent before they do anything. I have always welcomed student midwives being present and involved in the birth of my children as I do feel so confident in the supervising midwives and the students themselves. I have been extremely lucky to have hit the right shift pattern and have a very special midwife, present at all 3 of my births spanning those 10 years and I feel she really deserves a special mention. She is the epitome of professionalism, fills you with the upmost confidence to put yours and your baby's life in her hands. All of my births have been the most positive, wonderful experiences , thus women has had me laughing under the most excruciating pain and I was truly delighted to find out after I asked if she was working that day to find out she would be on the next shift and probably around for my 3rd baby's birth. She comes over as having such a relaxed calming attitude but you know deep down she knows exactly what's going on in every single one of those rooms in the birthing suite and had it all covered, running like clockwork. I cannot recommend Wansbeck enough to have your baby but if you get this midwife's shift you really have struck gold! In summary if you want to be treated like an individual , not bundled out of the hospital after you've given birth to vacate a bed then Wansbeck is the place to go.

Dear Madam, I do remember your review in November and i want to thank you so much for returning to us to give us this additional and much appreciated feedback. As a busy Mum of three it really is so kind of you to find the time ! Your detailed explanation of why you were so happy with your care experience at Wansbeck means everything to us. I know your post is anonymous but if you were keen to ensure we gave a special mention and thanks to the lovely midwife who saw you through the birth in a relaxed and professional way, I'd be happy to. My email is annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk if you wish to share this information directly. Thanks again for promoting our service and allowing us to celebrate our hard working staff. Please don't forget to come back to us if there are any plans in the pipeline for baby number 4 ! With all best wishes, Annie.
