"Husbands perspective"

My wife Lyn was admitted to A& E with severe breathing challenges and subsequently went to ICU on a ventilator and in an induced coma for 10 days then moved to Ward 6B for 2.5 weeks until transfer to West Mendip Hospital 4/4/14. I have already communicated directly to ICU staff my gratitude as a whole by letter shortly after Lyn was moved to 6B. Lyn's stay in 6B was a very challenging one for her due to a complicated medical history and physical restrictions along with the recovery from her reasons for admission. Staff at all times were professional , kind and patient to her care and needs. This is a very difficult balance to achieve when on occasions, levels of staffing and additional demands by patients put you all at a stretch. There was never any indication by any of the staff, regardless of their job status that they were under pressure as they remained calm and effective in their management of tasks and care of people. When you look at the bigger picture, not just your own, you could not fault what was offered, supplied and supported. Effectively, you have and need to operate as a Team and that is exactly what you did across all departments from A&E through to ICU and on to 6B. With grateful thanks for the profession that does care in more ways than one.
