"I received excellent treatment for prostate cancer..."

I was treated by two departments - Urology and Oncology. In addition to the two consultants, this put me in contact with specialist prostate cancer nursing staff and the radiography team. All staff were highly responsive to my needs and respectful throughout my treatment. I was impressed with the strong evidence of effective teamwork, together with an obviously high level of job satisfaction among the staff. Consequently, I had every confidence in the advice and guidance I received. In addition, the leaflets available about prostate cancer treatment were most helpful. They are written with simplicity and clarity in mind. I know that Torbay Hospital is at the forefront of research developments in treating prostate cancer. From start to finish I have been enormously impressed with the way in which I have had the procedures and their side effects explained, and the care I’ve received throughout my daily visits for radiotherapy December-February. I know that the radiotherapy team is a small one by national standards. However, Torbay Hospital can feel great pride in the quality of service that it provides. It should be celebrated. I should be surprised if it is surpassed by any other hospital in the region or, indeed, nationally. I am extremely grateful.
