"Ward 17 fantastic after experience of MAU!"

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

My grandad spent just over 2 weeks in hospital before unfortunately passing away at home a few days later. He commenced his stay in the MAU-he was there 2 days before the staff decided to advise us that my grandad had had a stroke on top of the aspiration pneumonia he had been admitted for. He remained on that ward for a few more days-the staff were very inconsiderate and rude! However he got moved to ward 17 and the experience we had there was completely different. They couldn't have done more for us and fully communicated every detail! Fantastic nurses doing a fantastic job!

Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your grandad. Your comments regarding your grandad's experience of MAU do greatly concern us, this is not what we expect to hear. If you would like us to follow up your concerns, we would be more than happy to do so, and you can do this by contacting our Patient Advice and Complaints Service on 0800 013 0018 or 01484 342825, or emailing them at PatientAdvice@cht.nhs.uk. We are, however, pleased to hear that things improved greatly on his move to Wrd 17. We are grateful to you for taking the time to provide feed back, comments such as yours are really helpful in helping us to improve our service where necessary.
