I recently had my baby at the Whittington and it was a very mixed experience. The antenatal care was fairly average and I felt well looked after but felt like the midwife would just say things to appease me as the appointment s are so short. My experience of the birth was shocking. The obstetrician was rude and tried to have conversations with me throughout contractions. I had previous appointments with her where she was rude and patronising and this continued in the delivery room. My mid wives were extremely indifferent and made me feel like I was making a fuss over nothing. I appreciate that this is their job and it's an every day occurance for them but they failed to realise that this was a pretty big deal for my husband and I! The only redeeming feature about my whole experience at this hospital was the post natal care. Though the small rooms were hot and noisy, the midwives were just incredible. They were rushed off their feet but really made time for each woman and worked hard to ensure every one was comfortable and coping.
