"Well treated but there are hygiene issues"

About: The Princess Royal Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

Mostly I was treated well, although I feel that perhaps two health/hygiene points need addressing: during the pre-op preparation, the BP monitor was inserted into my ear without prior cleaning, and then put straight into the case without cleaning, which could pass infection.

Also, having cleansed my wound, a swab was dipped into the dirty water then wiped over the wound which I did not think was very good either.

The nurse seemed to become inpatient with me after I stated I wished to have more movement in my thumb and I was not happy with the resultant dressing, so I redid it myself and had it done properly the following morning at the surgery.
