"medical assessment unit"

I was admitted last week to the medical assessment unit and spent three nights on a ward. The nursing care I received was excellent as was the medical care given by the medical consultant who looked after me. I was treated with kindness, thoughtfulness and in a very professional manner. I watched nurses and nursing assistants working extremely hard and often wondered where they got the energy from. My husband and I were so impressed with the hospital as a whole. Our experience at A&E was also excellent and the calming influence of a lovely nurse was most welcome. I was treated quickly and efficiently and with compassion. The humour of the staff also helped to stop our worrying and we were informed exactly what was happening and how long we would have to wait. Imagine therefore our dismay to learn this hospital is closing down. The sense of purpose and obvious team work and mutual respect will be gone. We didn't know hospitals like the QE2 still existed, it is certainly better than the last hospital I was in and the many hospitals I visited when my mother was alive. I don't know whether it is too late to save the hospital but as a local resident I had been under the impression it was remaining open . I feel misled by the politicians and that is an uncomfortable feeling. I wish the staff well and they have my sincerest thanks. I hope the hospital can be saved, the outcome will certainly effect how I vote in the next election.
