"Is the lift system working properly?"

(as a relative),

I was visiting my wife today and I watched 3 lifts come down a few floors and then went back up. This happened 3 times while I was waiting.

Surely the lifts should come all the way down then back up? When this does not happen you end up with everybody trying to cram into 1 lift which if it breaks down could be dangerous with people panicking.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your feedback.

The lifts at Inverclyde Royal Hospital are maintained to a high standard and a fully complaint with all current Health & Safety legislation. These lifts in question have a "Lift Sequence Controller" in place which selects the best overall destination (I.e. floor) for the lifts to ensure minimum downtime and stoppages for lifts in use and this is checked on a monthly basis.

In the event of any "overcrowding" on a lift, then it will not operate as the weight limit may be breached and will only operate once the weight is reduced.
