"My poor experiences of Cannon House"

About: Southampton West / Cannon House

(as a service user),

My experience of staff from Cannon House ranges from "wants to help but has a work load that doesn't allow this" to "can't be bothered", and a member of staff even falling asleep when on a home visit.

After being discharged from the mental health unit following a section, I had a visit from the team at Cannon House twice in 5mths. It actually took 9 weeks before they followed me up from hospital. This was even though they said that when I went home I would have a robust care plan. I have never seen this care plan.

When trying to contact a worker, you have to leave a message with the office staff and they put it in their message box. However, they don't go back to cannon house for days at a time, sometimes a week, so if you leave a message saying you need help it might not even be looked at for a week let alone see you.

As for complaining with pals I have tried that, and the managers just side step the question and deny it has ever happened. In my experience, complaining does not lead to change.

I am extremely sorry to learn about your experience with the care that has been provided to you by Cannon House and that you feel that contacting Complaints and PALS has not helped. I would ask that you contact us again on 02380 874065 or by e-mail at

Hp-tr.complaints@nhs.net as we welcome the opportunity to look further into your concerns.

I can assure you that your feedback has been passed onto the Senior Managers within Adult Mental Health.

Kind regards
