"Cherry Ward, from a carer's perspective"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Mental Health Services for Older People – Inpatient

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

Having to go off site for medical investigations/treatments is very time consuming and tiring, and a strain on staff. There is no access, or very limited access to OT facilities/kitchen, but it's good that there is now access to shops and a library.

The Cafe opening times are not favourable to visitors.

Thank you for your comments about attending off site investigations and treatments; it is tiring and and a strain on everyone, patients carers and staff. However, as Highbury is not a general hospital site, without diagnostic or treatment areas, it is essential if patients are to have a full investigation of their health issues and assessment of their needs, that they attend either at the City or University Hospitals. We want to build as clear a picture as possible to enable the patients to have the treatments they require.

Transport via Arriva Ambulances unfortunately is not as efficient as it might be and lengthy waiting times for ambulances causes stress to all concerned. We have decided to keep a record of trips where the waiting times have exceeded Arriva's own quality control targets so we can feedback to them accurate concerns.
