"Cleanliness"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

I visited the A&E department with my father late last night. Cleanliness was absolutely appalling. I've been into some fast food restaurants that were cleaner! The toilets in the waiting area were utterly filthy. The toilets, floor and sinks dirty, the bins inside the cubicle's dusty as if they had not been wiped down in weeks. Not to mention the smell. The waiting area itself was also filthy. Smeared floors and seats and litter from other patients scattered everywhere. This area could also do with some maintenance, fresh coat of paint etc. The whole place looks like something out of the 70s. Inside the treatment area was also bad. Wipes or some sort of tissues were scattered under my fathers bed. The privacy curtain was also splattered with blood. This is not acceptable. It was a very, very quiet night in A&E so they can not use being busy as an excuse. Excuse me for saying this, but the security staff and porters also looked like their uniforms, and themselves, needed a good wash. I thought we lived in England not a third world country.
