"My morning in A&E"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

We were on holiday in Bournemouth when I was suddenly taken ill with suspected meningitis. Once we arrived in A&E we were seen straight away. We were given a dark side room as I had photophobia and our care was outstanding. I was given pain relief and when it didn't work the nurse made sure I was given more until the pain calmed. I was seen by two different doctors who both carried out thorough examinations. It was very busy there but I felt really well looked after and not once did I feel I was neglected. The nurses and doctors were amazing and if I ever get taken I'll again I hope it's in Bournemouth!

Dear Amanda Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of our Emergency Department. It is gratifying to hear your high praise of our Emergency Department and the treatment you were given. It is good to hear that you were given a side room to help with the photophobia and that your pain was well managed. I will pass on your comments to the Emergency Department so they can be shared with the whole team, who I am sure will be delighted. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you are able to enjoy the rest of your holiday in Bournemouth. Regards Sue Mellor Head of Patient Engagement
