"Failings by the crisis team and 136 Suite at Sussex Partnership"

Last year I was working with the crisis team, meeting them when agreed, calling in when arranged. But despite this, they decided they did not wish to work with me any further, as they felt I posed too much of a risk for them. I am not the kind of client who will just do what I am told, if I believe it is to my detriment.

They called the police, who sectioned me on a 136 and I was taken to a place of safety at the 136 suite at the local psychiatric hospital. The police removed all my items that could endanger me and gave them to the staff, who put them in an unlocked drawer. I suffer with amnesic episodes and was seen by a member of staff removing my belongings and this went unchallenged.

I had access to a lot of medication and took a massive overdose, which was only realised when the police came to escort me to the ward, as I did not want to be in hospital. They could not wake me. I was then admitted on a ventilator to ITU. It took 3 attempts at trying to get me off the ventilator, until I was able to breathe for myself.

The police raised an allegation against the staff of abuse by neglect and this was upheld at a safeguarding adults investigation and subsequent meeting. When the staff were asked why they had not locked up medication given to them by the police, they claimed not to know anything about medication and said they did not challenge me with regards removing items, as they did not wish to upset me further.
