"3 days in hospital nothing done"

About: Colchester General Hospital

My mother took my father to A & E with severe stomach pains, he could not manage to walk to A & E from the car as in too much pain. No one would help. My mum told A & E she will have to call an ambulance if no one would help but luckily a nurse walking by helped him in. 4 hours to get IV morphine to help with pain. Doc forgot to write him up for bloods one day. Handed in a wee sample to test and just managed to stop them just throwing it away! No scans or investigations done other than several ECG as paranoid it was heart attack which it clearly wasn't. Told on day three as unknown pain had subsided he could go home and will have to wait for an out patient appointment to investigate problem. When asked what if pain comes back. Told you'll just have to go back to AE! Terrible service. Only a few members of staff had some compassion most do not. A&e, EAU And Wivenhoe ward

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “Comment on Accident and emergency services at RDEE4-Colchester General Hospital at 27/03/2014 14:32:02”, please? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
