"Trauma Centre"

About: University Hospital Aintree

On Friday 14 march 2014 I was knocked down by a car. I sustained a severe head injury and once assessed was taken to fazakerley hospital.Although I was obviously in shock I remember the nursing staff rushing around but still taking the time to explain to me exactly what had happened and what treatment they were giving me. And reassured me at all times. After having my head treated and stitched I was transferred to the Major Trauma Ward.attached to ward 2. When I got there a member of the nursing team introduced herself and said that she would be looking after me until the night shift came on.The next morning I was visited by a consultant and other doctors who checked me over again and explained exactly what my treatment would be.After I had been discharged I was visited by the occupational health team who made sure that I was ok to go home and that I had someone to care for me.Everyone on this ward worked as a team and made my unfortunate visit into a positive experience.Thank you so much.
