After a few weeks of indecision and huge worry I was admitted to Ward 26, Glenfield Hospital for a comparatively serious operation (but a stroll in the park compared to many of the dignified, brave souls on my ward). I want to assure anyone going for treatment that this (and the hospital as a whole) ward is staffed by people that graft hard for you, and genuinely care. Whilst the news isn't always good, they are clear and honest. The teamwork is first rate and despite pretty much all patients having a hard time of it, there is still a huge sense of camaraderie - this is inspired by the staff. It's very gratifying seeing a team with time to care about their patients. This is the first time as an adult I've had a stay in hospital - if you are due in Glenfield, can I try and assure you that your stay will be the best if the staff (from the consultants, through the nurses, the cleaning people and food domestics) are anything to do with it.
