"Emergency admission following heart attack"

About: Cheltenham General Hospital

From arriving at A&E to the Acute Assessment Area prior to admission to the Cardiac Ward the care I received was superb. From the domestic staff and porters to the hardest working ward nurses I have ever encountered my treatment could not have been better. The porter who brought me back from xray said that many people had commented to him about the standard of cleanliness in the hospital which puts other hospitals in the area to shame - it is spotless ! The nurses seemed to be no sooner finishing a shift than back again the following morning and deserve the highest praise for their devotion to duty and absolute commitment to their job of looking after patients with varying types of cardiac conditions. Whether dealing with someone who had been admitted to undergo diagnostic tests or with relatives of a terminally ill patient, the understanding, compassion and perhaps the hardest of all to show when under pressure on such a ward, the patience of the nurses in this Coronary Care Unit is beyond compare. I grew up to understand something of the life of a nurse, as my own mother had nursed in various hospitals in Gloucestershire and would have been proud to be a colleague of those from whom I had the great privilege of receiving care from during my stay in the hospital between 13th and 18th February 2014. God Bless you all.
