"Sensitive medical images - breaches of data protection"

About: Amersham Hospital / Dermatology

(as the patient),

A number of years ago I developed severe eczema covering most of my body. Photos were taken, and although, this was a humiliating experience, I went through it as I thought this would help dermatologists to treat my condition more effectively. About two months ago, I discovered that these images had been transferred from paper based notes held securely within the Dermatology Department to an electronic record, which may be viewed by staff not directly involved in the treatment of my condition including admin and IT staff. I contacted the Trust thinking it would be a simple matter to get them removed. I am still waiting weeks later. As these are embarassing images, I am so genuinely shocked by the fact that Bucks Healthcare does not seem to be taking this matter seriously. After all this doesn't just affect me, it affects other patients including children too.

Although, PALS/Complaints Dept Staff have been extremely helpful, I am horrified by the total lack of concern shown by the Trust. How would they feel if naked photos of them were scanned into their medical records? I'm sure they would want them to be removed asap too.
