"Orwell ward"

About: Ipswich Hospital

Had my baby via c section and then spent 3 days on this ward. Found staff to be a mixed bag of very caring kind and some so rude, inconsiderate and hurtful with comments to a new mum. At the time I had my baby the beds were so uncomfortable (for a ward mainly full of patients who had a C-section) could not alter bed electronically which resulting in dreadful back pain and made breast feeding even more challenging. The staff need to do more to offer support if they really want to encourage breast feeding, it is not a case of latch and go. Some staff were lovely and I hate to tar everyone with the same brush but the ward needs an overhaul. Opposite end of the spectrum Special Care is full on angels, patient, understanding and kind. What a 1st time hormonal mum needs.
