Having thought my surgery for removal of a cataract was traumatic. I would have liked to been offered the choice of sedation prior to surgery as I was in Moorfields. I would have liked the choices of lens type to be inserted or at least a discussion about my options. I would have liked not to be sitting in a waiting room with 5 other people with black arrows pointing to our eye marked on our faces. Two patients including me almost got a double dose of the drug to reduce pressure in the eye! Perhaps you will think I am a complainer, I am not and I'm a nurse. I really thought the whole experience was horrible. Very impersonal... it was like the cataract conveyer belt! The year before I spend two hours having surgery in Moorfields to repair a detached retina and staff were fantastic. I felt nothing and felt relaxed, they were supportive the whole time.
