"My first ever stay in Hospital"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

I was admitted to Pilgrim Hospital in the early hours, after being diagnosed with a Bowel Abscess. I was in agonising pain. At the age of 57, it was my very first time in hospital. From the very first moment after I arrived, I was treated with the highest possible care by both the Nursing Staff and Doctors. I cannot in any way fault my standard of care. They were fully attentive and professional at all times. There were some trainee staff on duty, who always introduced them selves as such. They were correctly supervised and always checked with senior staff when required. I even had a trainee nurse taking my blood. It was her first time on a "real" patient and She was very gentle and caring. I realise that this Hospital has had some bad press lately, but it is not fair to tar them all with the same brush. It is also not at all fair as there are some very nice people working there. I felt safe in their hands and would not hesitate to recommend the services offered at Pilgrim Hospital. I am steadily recovering and wish to express my best wishes to all the staff on Wand 5B David Potter.
