"Gall bladder removal"

About: Southmead Hospital

I attended the "short stay surgery" ward Southmead, Feb 27th 2014 for removal of my gall bladder, everything about my stay which ended up with me being for kept in fo 1 night was exceptional, right from my admittance to my discharge, i was kept fully informed of what was happening during the time leading up to my operation, right through to my discharge. All staff were extremly friendly on the ward, in theatre & on the recovery ward & made me feel very relaxed & comfortable, particularly a 2nd yr student, her whole attitude towards patients was a breathe of fresh air I would like my comments passed onto the Modern Matron for L Ward, as the staff deserve to be recognised for the work they do,in a time when so many people are so very quick to criticise the NHS

Dear Christine – thank you for your very positive review of your gall bladder surgery at Southmead Hospital. I was pleased to hear that friendly staff treated you professionally at all times, and that the communication was of the standard we expect for all our patients. Although it does seem that many news stories and individuals are quick to criticise the NHS, Southmead, Frenchay and Cossham Hospitals receive many, many more compliments than complaints or concerns. As requested, your very kind comments have been passed on to the Matron for L Ward and all the staff involved. Kind regards – Steve Sykes Advice and Complaints Team Manager
