We attended on a Sunday evening with a child with what turned out to be a relatively minor facial injury, thankfully. It was over an hour before we were seen by a triage nurse in a room with a Brocken door. It was another 2 hours before we were seen by a Doctor. The department did not seem to be very busy. At one point we were in a room overlooking what appeared to be the nursing station and there were lots of staff milling around in what seemed to be many conversations not related to patient care. Perhaps the staff need to focus on moving the patients through the department effectively rather than on other activities? Why was the triage room door Brocken and either not repaired or still in use?
