"Visit to Endoscopy"

About: Withington Hospital / Gastroenterology

I attended Withington hospital on Wednesday 5th March for an Endoscopy. I was very nervous and planned to have sedation as I thought I would be unable to cope without. However the nursing staff who clerked me in and obtained my consent were very reassuring and I agreed to try without and would have the option of sedation if I felt unable to cope. This was a good decision as I coped very well thanks to the skill of the doctor and the reassurance of the nurse. I concentrated on my breathing, her hand on my arm and her comforting voice. It was quickly over and I was absolutely fine afterwards. Got immediate feedback on findings. Overall an excellent, efficient and caring service.
