I was in the gynaecology day ward following key hold surgery , very shortly after waking up after general anaesthetic the surgeon told me how the operation went and what he had treated , I was so tired and dizzy after surgery I wasn't fully concentrating on what he was saying so I still have no idea what I was treated for , the notes where never sent to my GP the discharge sheet was never filled in after surgery , I was left alone on the ward shortly after waking up left with only a buzzer to get nurses attention , I buzzed to get a nurse to pass me a sick bowl which took at least a few minutes , I felt so ill after the operation I was sick over the bed and myself and the nurse left me to sit in it until I was discharged about an hour later, I buzzed to get a nurse to take me to the toilet and she did but was not there when I came out so I had to walk back to the bed unaided .I could have passed out without anyone knowing . I also had to ask the nurse to remove my Canular out of my hand otherwise she would of let me leave with it in. this was all after 6pm, it appeared that there was no staff on the ward after 6pm, my operation wasn't until 3.30 so it was fairly obvious I would not of been out before then.
